I have an infatuation with rosewater and rose oil in skincare. I don’t know if it’s the surge of products with rose as an ingredient or the fact that I live in a dry, desert climate and rose is extremely nourishing, but I’m incorporating a ton more rose-based goodies into my skincare routine.
Before I discuss my faves, let’s go over what rose oil and rosewater are.
Rose oil is essential oil extracted from the petals. This is a popular ingredient in perfumes, but rose oil is also very hydrating and is a great moisturizer for dryer skin, plus its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties help to reduce skin inflammation, irritation, acne, and redness. It can also help calm you since it has a natural relaxing effect.
Rosewater is a by-product of rose oil and is made by mixing distilled water with rose oil or infusing distilled water with petals. Rose oil is more potent than rosewater and thus, much more expensive.
Rosewater has a ton of uses – use it as a facial toner because of its mild astringent properties, a hydrating mist for parched skin, or mix it with coconut oil as a cleanser.
I’ve always loved the smell of roses, but if you don’t, you may want to pass on these uber-amazing products.
Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist and Pixi Beauty Rose Oil Blend
Makeup Fixing Mist is my go-to setting spray for work. It keeps my makeup from melting but is hydrating, which is perfect for the desert I live in.

Rose Oil Blend is a product I use everyday. It’s a botanical blend of goodness that helps improve skin’s elasticity and glow. I add 2-3 drops into my moisturizer. It nourishes without being too oily.

Derma E Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil
I received a couple bottles of Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil at a beauty expo last year, and what a god-send! This oil easily removes all of my makeup without stripping my skin. My face feels super clean, supple, and ready for serums and moisturizers.

Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist
I go through these like candy! I spritz Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist on my face before applying moisturizer and throughout the day when my face needs replenishment. It’s crazy refreshing and I feel it leaves my skin with a nice little glow. Besides rose, it also contains coconut water to deeply hydrate skin and hibiscus flower to promote cell turnover for more even toned skin.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
I use this occasionally after makeup for a dewy finish when I don’t need my makeup to last all night, or during my nighttime skincare routine before moisturizer. It helps to soothe my tired skin at night. You can also spritz a bit on your foundation brush before applying makeup for a dewy glow. This leaves me a bit shiny, so I restrict how I use it.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
I prefer to use Rosewater Balancing Mist throughout the day, when my skin is parched and looking for moisture. With the added marshmallow root and aloe vera, it rebalances and softens dry skin.
