Must Have Long-Wearing Beauty Products For Coachella

April 9, 2018 //  by Linda//  1 Comment

It’s festival season! If you’re headed to Coachella this weekend [or next], you’ve probably already picked out your outfits and planned which acts are a can’t miss. You might even have your makeup looks created in your head, and you definitely want your ~lewk~ to stay in place all day.

The desert is hot! Make sure you’re ready for the desert heat and pack these 5 long-lasting essentials plus 3 indisputable necessities below:

FACE PRIMER

Prep your face to help your skin combat oil so your makeup lasts longer. My favorite one is from Skindinavia – it’s a spray primer and really kicks oil’s ass!

EYESHADOW PRIMER

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this, but eyeshadow primer is the way to go to help prevent eye makeup from creasing or fading. Urban Decay still makes my favorite.

CREAM / LIQUID EYESHADOW

If you want to amp up the fun, Stila’s Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are super pretty and perfect for festivals. The hype around this product is real! They are seriously long-wearing. They come in glitter and metallic finishes, and there are plenty of shades to choose from.

MASCARA

All that desert dust is a killer on your allergies and eyes. Stick with waterproof so you don’t wind up with smudges and smears. I alternate between L’Oreal X-Fiber Mascara and L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara. The wand on Butterfly lifts and separates so well!

SETTING SPRAY

Don’t forget to set! I love Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray because it hydrates, sets makeup, and can be used anytime of day to refresh your face. The coconut water will revive your skin in the dry desert heat. I don’t use this as a primer [I use Skindinavia above], but you totally can.

These 3 below are not long-wearing, but trust when I say YOU NEED THEM in the desert!

LIP LOVE

Don’t forget about your lips! They can sunburn like your skin and need protection. I live for Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15. If you’re a die hard liquid lipstick user, apply the untinted version under your lipstick. After a few hours, lightly dab it over your lipstick for hydration and continuing coverage. DAB – don’t swipe!

SUNSCREEN

I mentioned it’s hot, right? Not Palm-Springs-summer hot, but it’s still estimated to reach 93 degrees on Sunday, and standing in the sun outdoors all day is going to take a toll on your skin. Pack this easy misting non-aerosol sunscreen so you can apply and reapply as needed.

BANDANA

Guys, Coachella cough is real. There is an insane amount of dust at the venue, and you could end up hacking up dirt for a full week. Wrap a mask, scarf or bandana around your face to prevent the dreaded ‘cough-chella.’ Any bandana will do, but I like this tassled one from Forever 21.
