Covergirl recently released two new palettes in collaboration with Katy Perry – Katy Kat Palettes. Aren’t they adorable? I found these in-store at Walgreens as the display was going up, and the associate was nice enough to open the boxes and pull out 2 new palettes for me.
They come in 2 shade sets: Hot Kat, which is filled with pretty neutrals, and Cool Kat, which is bright and interesting.
Hot Kat is perfect for your everyday makeup. The range of neutrals make this a go-to work palette, as well as evening wear. I don’t buy Covergirl eyeshadows EVER, so I was pleasantly surprised at how great the quality of these shades were. They were all very smooth to the touch, even the mattes. The black matte shade was a little ashy and had some fallout, but still applied fairly well.
I can’t get enough gold and bronze in my life, but if you already have tons of neutral palettes, this isn’t going to be a must-buy for you.
Cool Kat has some super fun shades to play with in a mix of shimmer, glitter and duochrome. The glittery shades have tons of fallout, but I always expect that in glitter shadows. Most of the eyeshadows felt smooth and buttery to the touch, but some were a tad flaky when applied. The blue shade on the right side and the glittery black shade are pretty ashy and apply a little sparse, but easily usable. You just have to apply more to get the intensity you want. This is definitely a palette that you use first before all your other makeup goes on. There was glitter and fallout everywhere. But, I still think it’s a great palette for $11-$12. I would buy this for the fun mix of shades alone.
Cool Kat was my favorite of the 2, even though the eyeshadows in Hot Kat were better quality.
Which Katy Kat palette do you like more – Hot Kat or Cool Kat?
Surprisingly good palettes for the price and Covergirl name. Most shades were smooth, with a few flaky and ashy exceptions. Hot Kat has some pretty neutrals, but the variety of shades and textures in Cool Kat make it the winner for me.
