It’s no secret I love purple, so I was thrilled when Pantone announced their 2017 Color of the Year was Ultra Violet [aka Pantone 18-3838]. This blue-toned purple is rich and deep, but not obnoxious.

As much as I love bright, red-toned purples, something about this specific shade is calming but powerful and appropriately royal. I’m already imagining the upcoming makeup collections based on this shade!
Here are some past Pantone Colors of the Year. I wasn’t thrilled about last year’s Greenery, but all of the previous shades were pretty.
