When I first saw Too Faced Co-Founder Jerrod Blandino post about Banana Pudding Brightening Face Powder on IG, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Brightening, color correcting and mattifying with a banana scent? Sign me up! I live for Ben Nye Banana Powder as my regular setting powder, so I’m always curious to try any powder in this shade range. Yellowish powders never leave a white cast on my tan skin like some colorless powders do.
I headed into Ulta as soon as it launched and walked out a happy makeup addict.
Unfortunately, this does not smell like bananas to me – bummer. But it does smell subtly sweet and feminine.
Banana Pudding Brightening Face Powder [$30]
Banana Pudding Brightening Face Powder is a makeup setting powder with pink, purple, and green specks infused in the powder to help color correct. It can be used all over to set or just under your eyes to brighten. The powder comes in a gold plastic compact, but doesn’t feel cheap, and has a mirror on the inside.
The product itself feels finely milled and smooth, even with the specks.
On my first use, I applied a light layer all over to set my foundation. It helped minimize my pores and I felt like I looked more ‘fresh-faced’ than normal. But with my oily skin, the look was gone after a couple of hours.
On my second use, I only applied a very light layer under my eyes. I read this can emphasize the lines under your eyes if applied too heavily, so I went in lightly. I noticed just a minute touch of extra brightening, and no settling either.
Both times, the powder helped set my makeup without blotting for several hours.
Overall, I’m equally happy but unimpressed with this powder. Yes, it sets your makeup, but so can a ton of other powders. It smells, nice, but again, not like bananas. My skin leans yellow, so this worked and blended out well. But if you’re pink-toned, it may not. I really want to love this powder, so I’m going to play with it more to see if it will become a part of my regular routine. But for now, my rating stands.

Just OK. Doesn’t smell like ‘nanas. Use a light hand. Sets makeup, but brightening is iffy.
